I have little ewes not good nippa'ring but very absorbent have used them to stuff bearbehinds and as a 2 part system with a wrap.
Quick drying.
I love the look of terry squares. The are very fluffy and cute. I hear they are good for containing the bf poop, although we didn't use them at that stage.
I find them far too fiddly with a baby over 7 months, forget it. Another problem I found was that I had problems getting the nippa to stay put. I opened the wrap a couple of times to find the bottom part of the nippa floating free and the bottom part of the baby behaving similarly.
Also found sluicing poop from terries tricky as the poo is placed randomly all over the square once it is unfolded. Not fun. I gave up.
Definate for littlies though.
maisie - you can fold terries into the kite fold but put one side over the other and then with the fleece liner - only one part of the terry square may get soiled. I love them .... and the nippas - the secret is to pull the nippas as far as you can before sticking them to the terry and making sure it is stuck.
Use them to stuff staffables in a pad fold, excellent value, effective and good all round. Top notch!
just the most versatile nappy ever...any clothy needs a few of these for wiping, stuffing, burp cloths, prefolding, kitefolding and when your babes pt then they are fab floorcloths or dusters!
Versatile, cheap and easy to dry. Get the right fold for your wee one and you're away. Husband even uses one to go to mop his brow whilst at the gym!
Loved them folded in Jo fold until ds outgrew it at about 7 months (but he is a giant!). Was my daytime nappy of choice for some time. Never got on with kite fold though - just not absorbant enough, and once you start boosting, too fiddly and bulky. Especially with a wriggly larger baby!
Now used to stuff things and for mopping up etc, but will definitely come out again for #2.
I use padfolded terrys and think they're so easy to use. I use Junior Joy superior which are really cheap and have been brilliant but have gone quite thin now, but are still ok padfolded, I use flannels as boosters.
They dry really quickly and are really versatile.
unbleached large little ewe squares are great - really thick and come up soft dry really quickly and you can change the fold to suit. i use a booster at night and ds looks a bit huge but never leaks i use motherease rikki wraps (just bought the large and it has been fine from early on (used to look a bit baggy) can also pad fold with a tighter fitting wrap- eg cotton bottoms (bummi)
The world's best nappy! Really versatile, cheap and very quick to dry, also gives your brain a bit of a workout if you make up your own folds!
I just didn't get on with my little ewes I had some newborn and large ones. They don't nippa very well and once I decided to try the large ones folded , I couldn't find a fold to fit my fatty baby.
I love terries. So versatile & perfect for newborn-crawling age. So many ways to fold them, easy to dry, inexpensive. I used nappy pins & never had problems with leaks.
BUT they are often difficult to keep folded with older babies & toddlers (esp. boys) who may not comply & lie still. Also, tend to deteriorate fast in American tumble driers (lint filter literally strips them). With my youngest I gave up & treated myself to shaped nappies when he was 18m old; I couldn't stand the struggle of trying to pin folded terries onto him any more.
I love my terries. Fab night nappies and good for putting over the tummy to protect DS's clothes from nappy change vertical wees! They're quick-drying, versatile and cheap, and massively absorbent.
I had 2 years of terry nappy use with my DD (now nearly 4!), used kite fold with extra one folded inside for night time use when she was 1+. Though they were fab, easy to fold, used washable one-way and biodegradable liners and wraps from Green Baby. Terry squares quick to dry on clothes line after washing (no tumble drier for me!) and I used the indispensable nappy-nippas - my mum was mightly jealous as these had not been invented when she used terries - she had to use pins! Yes sometimes DD would do such a great amount of sloppy poo that it did leak but I would have that any day to avoid using disposable nappies. I am now a registered childminder and find it hard using the gel-filled non-degradable, non-environmentally friendly disposable nappies parents give me, I have tried to educate them, to no avail so far!
I have just tried Bamboo Terry squares and am a total convert, soft, easy to use and very absorbant!
i loved my bamboo squares. soft , slim and absorbant and dry fast. the only worry is that they may become a bit of a fiddle when he gets older.
I've tried a few nappies but these were my favourite on my newborn - I used the kite fold and they fit amazingly well, we had no leaks and I managed to get them dry very quickly. I would recommend terries to everyone!
