Mother Of Eden Microfibre boosters are the best booster I have found, and my dd is a heavy wetter. They stay soft and grip the paper or fleece liner really well. They are available in two sizes (8 and 12 oz I think)
I would recommend cutting up a fleece pram blanket to make liners. I bought all these fleece topped boosters and now i am annoyed at myself as all a booster is is some extra terry and it would be so easy to use a wash cloth or folded 40cm terry.
FLEECE liners. sounds discusting at first. to be sure and not so good on newborn breastfed poo. but after the first few weeks they are a godsend, you can reuse them for the life of your baby, they just need a good shake over the loo, or a flush for the stubborn ones, chuck them in the bucket with the nappies. at a pound (ish) each i think they are better value than paper (paper liners are about a fiver for 200) and you'll never run out. plus they protect your nappies from staining in a way that paper will never do. and there's none of the plumbing worries you have with some flushable liners. big thumbs up from me.
Tots bots boosters:
I have an unbleached 3 layer terry tots booster, which I would recommend for a bit of extra absorbency. It washes up well, is slim enough to fold comfortably to boost one area e.g. the front for boys.
It seems well made, I have had it for 8 months and it looks like new.
I love my fleece topped terry boosters but just plain terry can be good too as you can slip these under a sewn in fleece topped booster. Kooshies flannel boosters are too thin and you need atleast 2 for even a medium boost. My favourite boosters are some really long hemp boosters that I use folded double, I don't know where they are from I bought them second hand.
My favourite boosters have got to be Stuffie boosters, just 3 layers of terry, nice and simple but good value and very absorbant. I also like the Nature babies terry inserts, good in pocket nappies but fit very well in ME/ popolini one size.
I only use fleece liners now, work very well and last for ages.
Microfibre cloths - slim, flexible, absorbent, (up to x10 their weight in liquid), prices can be very reasonable and they are easily available from supermarkets, motor trade shops (Halfords etc...), DIY stores. Basically, you can buy them all over the place and they fold up neatly to place in a nappy or outside a nappy in the wrap or to stuff pocket nappies.
And of course to do the washing up (but wash them first)
Fleece liners are great. I used to get through so many of those rolls of flushable liners but fleece can be re-used, carries the moisture away from your little one's bum and most poo drops off fleece pretty easily. And they dry almost instantaneously too.
fleece is sooo cheap to buy at a fabric shop - you can buy just half a metre for around £3 and cut it up into loads fleece liners and can shape them to suit
if buying boosters have found the white or unbleached three layer terry tots bots much better than the coloured ones (would not recommend the coloured ones as thinner terry so pointless as booster)
I only used two rolls of paper liners in 18 months of nappies as I wash themif they are only wee'don. They are fine for a good few washes and this means less go down the loo.
I stuff all my pockets with cotton babies onsize microfibre inserts that come with BG's...they are excellent and two can last my daughter all night!
For boosting i dont use anything other than wambamboo boosters...they are fantastic!!
i bought some fleece from ebay for a few pounds. i made some liners, a baby bag and still have plenty left. they are great. much better and cheaper than paper liners. i used paper liners for the first few weeks though
i got lots of bamboo boosters from babeco, they are flat so dry in ok time, very soft and absorbent. using bamboo booters i felt i was spared the slow drying tme of bamboo nappies but still reaped the benefits
Fleece booster are not for breastfed baby but otherwise they're fab, espacially over night nappy, for there "stay dry" effect.
As boosters, I found the microfibre ones the most absorbant and thin as well. Don't need to buy a ready-made booster, just fold in 2 or 3 a cleaning microfibre cloth, much more economical and versatile
! (just bought five of them for £4.30 P&P included on E-bay!)
